Mandatory 2011 JPPSS Annual Cell Phone - Air Card Declaration

Dear Employee,

The Jefferson Parish Public School System is requiring all system employees who are using a system cell phone and/or internet air card to declare the amount of business use of each device on an annual basis prior to December 22, 2011.
Under rules and regulations established by the Internal Revenue Service, the personal use  of an employer-provided cell phone and/or air cards is to be included in the employee’s taxable wages.

Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) has provided many employees with a cell phone and/or internet air card.  As stated in the employee’s job description, some employees are required to be on-call during and after normal working hours.   The cell phone and/or cell phone internet air card issued to these employees is for school system related business purposes, except for occasional brief, or incidental personal or emergency matters.

Employees who fail to complete a cell phone declaration will be reported as additional taxable wages based on the average monthly value as determined by what the system’s providers charge JPPSS for the service.

Employees who believe that a phone and/or air card should not be in their name should check the box they did not have this item in 2011 so telecommunications can review this issue.

If you received this notification and are not able to get in, please email us at cellphonedeclaration@jppss.k12.la.us thanks

      Please declare all items.
